Tom North tells the story about growing up in the real-life family that the movie “Yours, Mine and Ours,” starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda, was based on. The book begins in the 1950s on Whidbey Island, Washington, where Tom’s mother, Helen North, becomes a widow when Tom is six years old. Not long after, Helen meets and marries Frank Beardsley and moves to Carmel, California. The family grows to 20 children, but wasn’t one big happy family as the movie depicts. The book, including many never-published photos, is 356 pages and includes a list of helpful resources.
