I Really Wanted to Write My Story

Four years ago I was inspired by friends, acquaintances and serendipitous guidance to write my book, True North. In fact, I was in my office at the Securities Brokerage where I work, and had just hired a ghost writer to help me write a marketing piece for my business.  When it came time for me to tell him what I wanted him to help me write, that wonderful guiding voice in my head told me it was time to write the story that had lain dormant in my mind for over 20 years.  So instead of going in the business direction, I said, “You know what I really want to write?  I want to write a story about what it was like to grow up in the ‘Yours, Mine and Ours’ Beardsley family.”  The ghost writer didn’t know that this was a 90 degree turn in direction, so he just went right along with me.
